Chunky Infinity Scarf

I had been wanting to try out this GAP-tastic Cowl pattern I saw on pinterest a month ago.  My pal Katie gave me a skein of this yarn and I had two more in my stash.  I ordered 24 inch long #13 circular needles, and got to knitting. I week later I was done, and now making a few more.

neutral beanie

I received a special request to make a neutral beanie last Wednesday.  I looked through my yarn stash and found a few candidates that would work.   A few hours later I had a finished striped beanie.  I am really happy with the way it turned out..  :)

Beanies for twin boys

Our friends Christie & Brett are having twin boys!  I got these great washable yarns from Berroco in a mustard yellow and a light brown a while back and was inspired to use them in my striped beanie pattern.  I finished both of them this sunny Saturday sitting poolside with Matt. They turned out so adorable, and I cant wait to see them on baby A & baby B.  I also made a matching beanie for their toddler Connor. :)

Sweet Mittens

New Year, New Project

It is time for a new project!  I am finally done with the Miragamo bag...and I am happy to say that I love it and I am using it.

I will be knitting a sweater vest (pattern from Ravelry) for my Aunt Theresa (love her!).  The yarn came over the weekend, and I am so excited to start.  The blend is 70% silk and 30% cotton, and here is what it looks like.

I have already wound each hank into balls, so they are ready for knitting.  When I was winding I noticed that the yarn is super soft and has a nice sheen to it.  I will start next weekend, but first I need to finish the mittens for my little brother and sisters... 3 more hands to go!

Miragamo; finished

So, I finished the Miragamo bag over the New Years weekend.  I followed the instructions from Noni Designs on how to sew the lining for a rectangular bag.

Since sewing is still a bit new to me, I had a few set backs with threading the machine and troubleshooting the tension.  I had to go buy a seam ripper and a good pair of dressmaker shears to assist me in the process.

I used my Great Grandmothers' (mom's mom side) sewing machine. It was made by the Hilton Sewing Machine Co. from Cleavland Ohio.  It may be close to 40 years old, but it still works like new. 



Here it is sitting in the sewing table.
